Uniform

Here is Superboy in full-uniformed glory. It took all I had not to follow him around hugging and smooching him, he looked so adorable, but I did control myself (a little) in the interest of preserving his superhero dignity. He has a flashlight tucked in his right pocket (which you can't see), and a green tube peeking out of his left pocket (which you can). Actually, the green tube is a kaleidoscope my mother gave to me when I was a girl, which tickles me no end. The Boy was using both items for very important things, but I couldn't tell you exactly what.

And the boots--oh, those boots! There was a short run of days last summer, difficult days for both of us, when all hard-won potty training victories paled in the face of a serious slip-up streak. One particular afternoon, after not quite making it in time...again... the Boy was sitting tearfully on the grown-up potty, bare legs dangling and festooned by his damp and dirtied "Cars" briefs, feet ornamented by--those boots. Which just made me love him all the more.
