Last night, she spent the beginning of dinner shoveling pureed carrots and prunes into her mouth, stopping to chortle with glee every few seconds. I ran for the video camera A. received as a birthday gift from his mother, but--you guessed it--dead battery. Drat!

Mmm Mmm Good
Well, we'd been trying to tempt the Girl with solid food since December, but her lack of desire to actually eat it was perplexing. She would exhibit extreme grabby interest in everyone else's food. She would watch us eat. She would reach for our food and smack her little baby lips. But every time we managed to deposit something into her mouth, she'd act as if we were trying to poison her. She'd gag, grimace, and generally make her protest very well-known. However, there's been a sea change in the last day or two, and now FOOD is her new best FRIEND--on one condition: we do not feed her, she gets to feed herself.

That is my favorite pic of my little niece!!!! I love it love it love it!!!
We've been having some food issues on our side as well. After a rough start, we thought we'd finally found the fast track and then *boom* he got sick for a couple of days and completely forgot that he'd ever been interested in actually eating his food. Yesterday and today, for instance, the only thing that's gotten is atttention is being given an entire cucumber (peeled). He gnaws on it a little and then bangs it against the table until it turns into a pulp.
