Penmanship
Superboy brought this out to us from his room one day. He did it all by himself! Kinda warmed the cockles of my heart. What are the cockles of my heart*, exactly? I have decided it matters not, as long as they are warmed.

*Lest you ever slip up in the humility department and believe that, for example, an (intended to be) humorous comment you made on your blog about a quaint idiomatic expression could be original, check out what I came across here whilst investigating the origins of said expression (after writing said comment). If you've still nothing better to do and wish to see what some folks who make it a profession to think about such things have to say about cockles, check here.

Privacy
I really haven't been to the bathroom by myself for years, now, 'though not for lack of trying. Today, again, I asked for privacy and explained, again, that most older people do expect to be able to visit the restroom by themselves. Not surprisingly, this had little lasting effect. Again.
So...a few moments later, as Superboy returned and was burrowing, face hidden behind the towel hanging on the rack, I asked for privacy yet once again, and he replied,
"I guess hiding doesn't count?" Agh!

Pearl of Wisdom
This one was so lustrous, I just had to share it with you all:
"Mom?"
"Yeah, sweetie?"
"You know, you're supposed to have food at every meal."
Yes, indeed.

Murphy Bed, er, Baby...
The Look
I've been hoping to capture this one for a while; it is Supergirl's newest favored expression. I have yet to figure out the rules for its frequent utilization, but here she has directed it at me because I placed two new crackers on her tray while she wasn't looking. Shame on me!
Moments later: it's all good.
And in go the crackers.
Lemon Bread Nostalgia
When I was a little girl just learning to cook, Mom and I used to make this lemon bread together. I got the jobs of greasing the pan, grating the lemon peel, juicing the lemon, mixing the glaze for the top, and brushing it on after the baking. I dug out the recipe recently, and the Boy and I decided to give it a whirl together one afternoon. How odd, a little bit sad, yet wonderful it felt to pass my own erstwhile lemon bread tasks on to my little cooker, who took to them like a fish to water.
